Step by step guide
#1: Quarantine the koi
Quarantine the koi for at least 2 weeks in an separate quarantine tank with strong air bubble diffuser and the size of quarantine tank ideally has to be 3 times of the koi size. Besdies please make sure the quarantine tank is covered all the time.
#2: Water treatment
Do water treatment using S1 Medicine to reduce the stress of Koi and to treat various diseases and infections of the koi. The amount of the S1 used is based on the size of the tank.
#3: 24 hours routine job
Every 48 hours, we will do 50% water change for the next 2 weeks and we can start feed the fish on alternate days. To make it simple, one day 50% water change, one day feed the fish; one day 50% water change, one day feed the fish.
#4: Carefully examine
During this quarantine period, carefully examine if the koi has visible sign of sickness like abnormal behavior, parasites, physical injuries, swimming patterns. Basically look for any symptoms that may indicate poor health.
Last step:
Transfer KOI into the main pond
If all good after 2 weeks, the Koi is ready to transfer to the main pond. Before transfer, check the PH and temperature of both quarantine and main pond and it has to be same. If in case the temperature not same, drop 50% water in the quarantine tank and take water from the main pond and fill the quarantine tank. Wait for 15 minutes and then transfer the koi to the main pond. By adopting this method, we have significantly minimise the risk on your existing koi fishes.
